We are happy to announce the public defence of the FAST doctoral thesis of MSc. Nan Yang, from LUT University. The title of the thesis is “Futures Studies in Software Business: Maintaining Agility under Uncertainty” and the event will take place on Mon, 19.10.2026 at 12:00 in Lahti Auditorium 1B. Professor Jürgen Münch, Reutlingen University, Germany, will act as opponent and Professor Sami Hyrynsalmi  will act as custos.

The 9th FAST Sprint Meeting brought our research community together for two inspiring days in the beautiful city of Rovaniemi. During the event, participants presented their latest research, exchanged new ideas, and explored the opportunities and challenges of AI in software engineering, along with career opportunities. Last week, we participated in the Seili Writing Retreat, where we focused on writing, exchanged ideas, and enjoyed the beautiful nature of Seili Island. Thank you to everyone who helped make the week so inspiring and productive!

The 8th FAST Sprint Meeting gathered over 80 doctoral researchers, supervisors, and industry representatives in Software Engineering.

Over two intensive days, the 8th FAST Sprint Meeting brought our community together both in Turku and on the Turku–Stockholm cruise. The programme combined keynote talks, a lively panel discussion, hands-on paper planning, and a wide range of research presentations.

Beyond the sessions, the social programme and shared time at sea created space for informal conversations, new connections, and ideas for future work.

Thank you to everyone for the discussions, contributions, and great spirit throughout the event—we look forward to continuing this momentum at the next meeting!

The eighth FAST Sprint Meeting takes place in Turku (including cruise Turku-Stockholm-Turku) in May 11 and 12, 2026. Join us to exchange ideas, learn from industry experiences, and meet other doctoral researchers and supervisors working in Software Engineering!
