Welcome to the Seili Research Station for the second FAST writing retreat on August 3-7, 2026.
The retreat will take place in the Archipelago Research Institute, Centre for Environmental Research of the University of Turku, in the beautiful island of Seili. During this week, you’ll have opportunity to deep focus on your own writing work, connect and learn from others, and plan collaborative projects in the famous Finnish archipelago.

Registration is open until 31 May or when the number of participants is full. Please note that the University of Oulu employees are expected to provide a cost center in the registration instead of immediate payment.

The week of writing retreat in beautiful island Seili consists of individual writing, group couching sessions, and inclusive lectures on getting better in the art of academic life. The cost 710e includes participation to the full program, ship transportation from Turku harbour (M/s LÖVSKÄR, Läntinen Rantakatu 37) to Seili and back, accommodation in 2 people rooms, bed linen, and full board meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Please note that getting to Turku and possible extra accommodation nights should be paid separately and booked directly by yourself following your university’s travel guidance.
