About me
My name is Eerika Peltonen from LUT University, soon joining the incredible group of Junior Researchers. I recently graduated with M.Sc. (Tech) in Software Engineering, specializing in Software Product Management. During the two years of my master studies, I worked in the software industry as a Software Developer, working alongside awesome people and gathering invaluable insight for my future career and current research!
When I’m off work, I go to gym, dance ballet, adore sunsets, and play video games. My current favorite game includes a duck wobbling around with blue bucket on his head. He is the absolute cutest!

Research
My research topic for the next three years is called Improving the use of digital identities in software products and services. The topic addresses the results of my master’s thesis, where I identified five research gaps related to the relationship between digital identities and Software Product Management (SPM) through explorative literature study.
Current plan to address these gaps include conducting a Design Science Research (DSR) to create guidelines for people working with digital identities and SPM in software product and service companies. DSR is implemented through qualitative interviews with SPM related people working in the industry, such as software product managers, product owners and C-suite (CEO, CFO, CTO etc.). First, the interviews are conducted to understand the current industry status and identify company challenges. Then, the guidelines artifact is created followed by two evaluative rounds of interviews. The artifact will be modified in between the interviews according to the interview results. The research will be concluded by adopting these guidelines into a case company for further evaluation and understanding of impacts and benefits of using them.
After my research is done, software product managers and relevant stakeholders will have better insight on digital identities in their products and services while also having the opportunity to utilize the concrete guidelines for further support.
